The name is Abiola Omolara Ogunbekun
…but you can call me Abby.
The inspiration for my site’s name came from how I simplified my name for the majority of my life so far. For most of my childhood, teens, and even my twenties, my name was a source of anxiety. Anxiously waiting for people to mispronounce it, anxious at the thought of explaining its Yoruba origins. Because it pointed out one more way that I was different, made me stand out.
It took a while, and a lot of growing into my confidence to finally understand that being different is actually a wonderful thing. And now, I love my name in all the ways.
